Privacy Policy

Optional sign-in

All lessons, vocabulary, rhymes and roleplay scripts work without an account. Talking to the AI tutor requires signing in with your phone number, which also gives you a daily allowance of AI replies. Sign-in uses Firebase Phone Authentication (Google): we receive and store your phone number and a unique account ID, verified by an SMS code sent directly by Firebase. We never see or store the code itself.

Usage & subscription data

Before you sign in, we count how many free AI replies have been used from your network connection each day, to apply the free limit. The count is stored against a one-way hash of your IP address — the address itself is never stored — is not tied to your identity, and is deleted automatically after two days. Voice sessions are also counted per connection, in server memory only, to prevent abuse. If you sign in, we store a small record tied to your account and, if you subscribe, your subscription status and Google Play purchase token, used only to verify your subscription is active and to make sure each purchase unlocks only the account that bought it. We do not receive or store your card details; payment is handled entirely by Google Play Billing.

What’s stored on your device

Your learning progress — XP, streaks, completed lessons and roleplays, quiz results, word familiarity, and your chosen avatar — is saved only in your browser’s local storage on your own device. It is never uploaded to our servers and is not accessible to us. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app will erase it permanently.

AI tutor chat & roleplay

When you chat with the AI tutor or practice a roleplay scenario, the text you type is sent to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate a reply and grammar feedback. This text is used only to generate that response and is not stored in a database or used to train any model. If no AI service is configured, the app falls back to built-in offline responses generated entirely on your device.

Voice input & text-to-speech

When you use voice mode, your microphone audio is streamed to our server and forwarded in real time to Deepgram, a speech-to-text provider, solely to convert your speech into text for the conversation. Audio is not stored by us or, to our knowledge, retained by Deepgram beyond processing the request. Spoken replies from your AI tutor use your device’s built-in text-to-speech engine and never leave your device. The classic typing mode does not use your microphone at all.

Nursery rhyme videos (YouTube)

The Rhymes section shows the words to each rhyme and offers a link to sing along on YouTube. The videos are not embedded — no YouTube content, player, or image loads inside the app, and nothing is requested from YouTube until you deliberately tap the link. We do not host these videos and we do not receive any data about what is watched. Once you open a link, you leave the app and you are on YouTube (Google), under Google’s privacy policy, where YouTube may set cookies, collect viewing data, and show advertising before or during a video — none of which is under our control. If you would rather avoid this entirely, simply do not tap the links; the words to every rhyme are in the app itself.

Ads & analytics

Angrezi Babu does not show ads and does not use any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. No advertising is served anywhere inside the app. We do not sell or share your data. If you follow a rhyme link out to YouTube, any ads you see there are shown by YouTube on its own site, after you have left the app.

Data deletion

Your progress data lives only in your browser’s local storage — delete it any time from the Profile tab (“Reset progress”) or by clearing your browser’s site data.

If you signed in, open the Profile tab and choose Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your phone number, your account, and your usage and subscription record, and erases your progress on that device. It cannot be undone. You can keep using the lessons, rhymes and roleplays afterwards without an account. If you cannot reach the app, email [email protected] and we will delete the same data for you.

Two things survive deletion, deliberately: a record that a given Google Play purchase was claimed (a one-way hash of the purchase token, so one subscription can’t be reused across many accounts — it contains nothing personal), and the anonymous daily counter described above, which is tied to a hashed IP rather than to you and expires on its own.

Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel that in the Play Store, or billing continues.

Children’s privacy

Parts of Angrezi Babu are made for children — the Rhymes section for young children and the School Students roleplays for school-age learners. None of this content requires an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Signing in requires a phone number and is intended for adults; children should not sign in without a parent or guardian. The Rhymes section links out to YouTube, so we recommend a parent or guardian opens those links and supervises younger children while they watch.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
